Welcome to our update from
The House of Grace December 2011

Where has the year gone? There has been a lot of changes to The House of Grace over 2011 – with the Aftercare Flat trial, been at our all time low and letting staff go, change of staff and Trustees to seeing new life come into this world. The good news is we are still here and our plans are to be around for as long as our services are needed.

As the office prepares to close for the Christmas holidays the Home continues to remain open to the current residents and their babies who are living there. Our amazing Houseparents Natalie and Glenn will be coming up to four years of serving as full time Houseparents in Feb 2012. We are so grateful to have such dedicated loving people on board.

We have been very blessed by having gifts/food and clothing donated by Arise Western Suburb Life Groups and a huge amount of nappies and wet wipes donated by Kimberly Clark NZ via Foodstuffs.

Financially it has been a stretched year however we have had some donations from individuals that have blown us away making it possible to continue the much needed service in the community/country.

We say farewell to Kirsty Jackson after nearly 3 years of volunteering, working and been a Trustee – she will be missed.

Our milestones for 2011:
  •  We reached a milestone, 70 babies born to 70 mums as of December 2011.
  • Successful staff and volunteer training.
  • Assisting pregnant teens with maternity care, antenatal, and postnatal assistance.
  • Assisting single teen mothers in the community with baby gear and support.
  • Successfully linking teens to other community support agencies and assistance with setting up their own home.
  • Providing advice and consultation to community groups, parents and other professionals around the support of pregnant teens and their personal, social, educational and physical needs.
  • The implementation of providing a new successful Aftercare program which was started in March 2010.
  • Maintenance done to stop the leaks, dampness and damage at the Home.
  • Purchase of a large 12-seater van.
  • Partial upgrade of the main kitchen.
  • Implementation of an Aftercare Flat.
  • Business support through numerous donations of products.

All of us here at The House of Grace would like to say:
Merry Christmas
May the timeless message of Christmas fill your heart and home
with joy now and throughout the coming year.
